Obama: Germane and Genuine?

 http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dcnow/2010/01/obama-and-gop-square-off.html

____________________________________________________________________

Obama met with GOP leaders today in Baltimore.

We will spare the details. Follow the link above for more of the story.

Its MOTS - more of the same, different place,  different time.  I watched some of the show.  Lots of I's and me's by the President.  He loves a forum - loves the limelight,  me, me, me.

I am not buying any of it.  This was part of a grand plan  to do more (damage control - via Massachusetts and the Scott Brown win.

He needs to learn that a little trust will go a long way.  His WH needs to learn this also.

Time will tell if this reach out will work, and have any value.

Obama: State of the Union

Hang on to your hats.

This address should be very special. Watch him use the words, I and me.

I predict you will hear "new and distorted" numbers and statistics that no one but Obama and his WH knows about.

Lets hope its not as bad as Valerie Jarrettes' thousands of jobs remark.  And Robert Gibb's 1.5 jobs created remark.  And David Axelrod's 2 million job remark.

Just watch.  It will be utterly amazing.  Your head will be spinning when Obama starts his spin and is done with the lies. We might not hear "You Lie" - but plenty will be thinking of it.

He is going to make everything look great -  and he will diminish  the problems as if they did not hardly exist.

He will probably outline his new select government spending freeze.  And how he going to help the middle class -
(to hell with everyone else).  This will be more of his nonsense.

Keep track of the lies, distortions. You will see lots of smoke and mirrors. He is the master, he will mystify - some, but not all.

Watch for all the phony smiles from his corrupt buddies, like Pelosi,  Dood,  Reid, and others,  you know the list.
This will be fun.

I am planning to watch this spectacle, I only hope I can sleep after he is finished with his speech.  I just know I am going to have a headache.  So I will just take a few ibuprofen  before he starts.

Obama: Worst than Jimmy Carter.

Another day in paradise.

Obama and his pathetic White House have made more mistakes in one year than Carter made in four years as President.  They are hopeless.

This President does not know what he is doing. He makes changes as he goes along.  This is what happens when you do not know what you are doing,  when you are weak, when you do not have a clue.

He is radioactive,  everything he touches  turns to crap.  So do not go near him.

Sunday he went to Boston, to campaign  and ensure a win for  Martha Coakley from defeat in a special Senate race for Ted Kennedy's seat.   Scott Brown won.  Another Obama failure.

Obamacare and health care reform is all but dead.  Obama failure again.

Now Obama wants to tax big banks.  He wants reforms and legislation so they will never become to big fail.
His proposal would prevent firms with banks from investing in hedge funds, doing proprietary trading.

Another reform would bar large banks from using their own funds to trade financial instruments in the hope of making big profits for their own accounts. They would also be barred from owning hedge funds or private-equity funds.

This will turn out to be another Obama transfer tax. He will take the money from the banks - give it to the Treasury of other unworthy parties, and then the banks will get their money back from us.

So what did he solve?  Is this reform going to create more  jobs?  Or will we lose more jobs?

Commentator David Frum outlines his viewpoint>

"The president has endorsed a tax on banks by size to collect a projected $90 billion over the next 10 years. The president argues that the tax will help repay taxpayer losses in the TARP bailout program for banks.

It's a crummy argument. Most of the TARP losses will be racked up not at banks, but at the AIG insurance company and the rescued automakers, GM and Chrysler. No tax for them."

Here is what Mr. Tough Guy - Obama said............

Obama seemed to welcome the industry’s opposition. “If these folks want a fight, it’s a fight I’m willing to have,” the president said. He also criticized the “soaring profits and obscene bonuses,” at financial firms that say they are still unable to make loans to American businesses. He warned the financial industry to “work with us and not against us.”

Obama ship is listing, ready to sink

Last night many witnessed the stunning Scott  Brown's victory, beating Attorney General Martha Coakley for the Senate seat held by Ted Kennedy.  The  defeat of a  Massachusetts Democrat,  should open Obama's eyes,  the White House and the rest of democrats how very badly things can go.

Many have criticized Martha Coakley for being lax and not really trying to win the election, she went on vacation, December 19 to January 6, with no campaigning.

Many think that this election would surely be won by a Democrat,  but it did not work this time.  This is what happens when you are too sure of yourself, to lazy to fight for all votes and maybe you do not belong in this election race  in first place.

On Sunday last. Obama flew to Boston, to campaign for Martha Coakley, as he did in New Jersey to support Jon Corzine for his governor race. It did not work.

Obama mocked Brown and his pick up truck.  Obama saying "you might not want to get  in that truck with Martha's opponent, it might not take you where you want to go."

This is typical Obama rhetoric.  Obama is in trouble now, because many people "do not want to ride with Obama" . They have seen his lies, half truths, distortions, and they are sick of it.

There are some similar  issues concerning the politics of  Obama  and Coakley.

Both were too sure of themselves.
Both were counting on history,  rather than reality.  Democrats would win this race.
In the beginning, Obama just gave the Senate and House a nibble on heath care, never was clear or had enough transparency.  The the Senate bill failed, had to be rewritten, full of deals, bribes and closed door corruption. Obama, Harry Reid and others, just compounded to the problems of a terrible health care bill.

Obama should have seen this coming.  But he was like Coakley,  she thought a Democrat would surely win the Senate seat held by Kennedy for nearly 47 years.   WRONG.

Obama thought because of his charm, rhetoric, and the arrogant Democratic majority, that heath care would surely pass.
Well it might, but not yet.

Obama, his weak White House, and the Democrats have a lot to worry about.

They may get a health care bill for  Obama to sign by his state of the nation speech.   But they will get little else.  They have a lot of damage control work to do.

There will more damage, in the 2010, mid term elections in November.

That's when the ship will really begin to sink for Obama.

President Obama to do a drive by in Massachusetts to save Martha Coakley and shoot the Republicans

 Fox News Reports:

President Obama is headed to Massachusetts Sunday to campaign for Democrat Martha Coakley, whose race against Republican Scott Brown has narrowed to a toss-up as voters zero in on the cost of a massive health insurance bill in Congress.
__________________________________________________________________________

If some of Obama's  campaign speech for Martha Coakley are televised - do yourself a favor.

Count the number times he will tell lies, distort the truth, about Coakley and health care.

Obama - Mr. Tough Guy

The LA Times has reported.
President Obama, with House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told the group: "If Republicans want to campaign against what we've done, by standing up for the status quo and for insurance companies over American families and businesses, that is a fight I want to have." (Ron Sachs, Pool Photo / January 14, 2010)
________________________________________________________________
"Organized labor had bitterly opposed the health care tax, arguing that union members had negotiated generous benefits in lieu of pay increases."

So Obama caves in again, like he always does.  And his cronies are right beside him in another closed door session of congress.

Read what your president, Mr. Tough Guy has said.

"If Republicans want to campaign against what we've done, by standing up for the status quo and for insurance companies over American families and businesses, that is a fight I want to have."

Wow. The  Corrupt Chicago president is alive and well.  Now he looking for a fight.   You will be looking for  the fight of your political career very soon.  So keep your game face on.

Very attentive, just like when he was vacationing in Hawaii, and it took him three days to respond to the near-miss attack by the underwear bomber on Flight 253  over Detroit.

We can see how much you are for the people, not all people. Just some people.  Like union and labor people, or better - union and labor (VOTES).

Thank you. Mr. President for caring for only some Americans. You are not fooling anyone.

We know you speak out of both sides of your mouth, we are just not sure if its the right side or the left side.

Tomorrow is another day, with another set of lies, distortions, and corruption.

UAW and Unions need to stop the crying and grow up

Its not my life time goal to bash unions.  You are hanging on by a thread and you know it. You use every scheme possible, every bit of political shenanigans possible, to get what you want - and to hell with everyone else.

Every benefit you get has a cost. That cost is passed on to the consumer. You get the benefit. The rest of us gets screwed. Because we have to pay for that cost.

Yes I will agree that unions had a place in manufacturing many years ago. I was a union member too, steel worker.  Long time ago.

Yes I will admit unions have helped many people, helped the conditions in the work place.

But in many cases, they hurt many industries, and helped closed many plants.  Pittsburgh once had a lot of steel plants.

Bethlehem Steel, PA was a major steel producer.  Now the old steel mill is a new casino.

Several years ago, when the UAW were negotiating, and finally settled, here is some of  what Ford "gave the membership."
Members with enough time working for Ford were given $2000 a years for college expenses for their kids - very noble.  They were given  money to purchase computers and internet service. Nice benefit. There were other goodies above and beyond what all the UAW settled for.

Ford Motor Company was so proud that they were able to give their employees such benefits.  But this is untrue, it was not Ford or the union that gave these benefits - it was the guy who bought the cars who provided these benefits. No car sales - no benefits.  Remember 2007 and 2008 when the auto companies were broke, bankrupt, and busted.

GM build car plants in China.  More cars  are made there than here.  Does that tell you anything?  Unions that push too hard, will push the  the company to close the doors in America and go overseas.

Certain workers can benefit from labor unions. But everyone cannot be in a union. Its impossible.  So the situation is one sided.  The current members are the only ones that benefit. Its not balanced.

Car prices rise almost every year. Some of that cost can be associated with management greed and union demands.  Instead of the unions and management working together to keep cost low, they continue a vicious cycle of greed and outlandish union demands.

This cycle never gets broken. So it is destine to fail. And fail it did.  The government and taxpayer had to bail out GM and Chrysler. The great companies the the UAW works for.

Lately, unions have cried, and won unfair concessions against the health care provisions involving " Cadillac health care plans."  The tax that was to be placed on these plans will not apply to certain labor unions. This is unfair to everyone else.

I think it is ironic that these plans are referred to as "Cadillac Plans".  Is it because Cadillac cars were so very expensive, and special, that only the rich could but them?  They were not affordable for everyone. Just like these health care plans they reference, they are only for the rich, the elite, the privileged,  the Congress. And now Unions.

This is an outrage.

I am as mad as hell - because every benefit a union member gets, I pay for some of that benefit if I buy your product.  So do not thank Ford, GM or Chrysler for what you have, thank the guy who bought the car you make.

It must be a group of dangerous people.  Its must be criminals or maybe terrorists. Are they making secrets?

ITS YOUR GOVERNMENT  - dangerous and hard at work on the health care bill.  Hiding from view. Hiding from you

Not on C-Span like we were promised.

Like children whispering.

Talking behind your back.

Talking behind closed doors.\

Obama gives his union buddies a break and punishes the banks

The Wall Street Journal has reported:
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The head of the largest group of U.S. labor unions urged congressional lawmakers to support an excise tax on the rich to pay for sweeping health-care legislation, saying that a tax on generous health-care plans would "drive a wedge between the middle class and the poor."

Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO, said in a speech Monday that lawmakers should implement the proposed payment method outlined in the House version of the health-care bill, rather than that in the Senate version that would tax so-called "cadillac" health-care insurance plans.
"The tax on benefits in the Senate bill pits working Americans who need health care for their families against working Americans struggling to keep health care for their families," he said. "This is a policy designed to benefit elites."

Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Union leaders hailed an agreement with the White House on Thursday on changes to health-care legislation that they said will lessen the impact on union members and older workers of a tax on pricey health insurance plans.
Union plans negotiated under collective bargaining agreements and state and local employee plans would be exempt from that tax until 2018, the union officials said on a conference call with reporters.

Barrie McKenna
Washington — Globe and Mail Update

‘We want our money back, and we're going to get it,' U.S. President vows, as he unveils details of tax on the country's largest banksThe $90-billion (U.S.) tax – to be levied on about 50 companies for up to a dozen years – makes for good politics. As Mr. Obama pointed out, Americans are angry and hurting because of the recession – a recession banks helped trigger with their “reckless risks in pursuit of short-term profits and soaring bonuses.”

“Using tax policy to punish people is a bad idea,” JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO James Dimon told reporters after a hearing in Washington. Mr. Dimon said it would be unfair for banks to be left shouldering the cost of the auto bailout.

And other companies that haven't, including General Motors Co. and Chrysler, won't have to pay at all. Others, such as government-controlled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, aren't in good enough financial shape to pay, according to administration officials.
 _____________________________________________________________________

Help the unions - punish the banks.

Another Obama special interest buy out.

Why should union members get a break?  Are they the only workers in America.

The management and  auto workers had a lot to do with the failure of GM and Chrysler.  So now we will reward failure.  Just like affirmative action.  How pathetic.  This is wrong.   Typical Obama and democrats politics.

What about the rest of us?  We do not count.  Only union votes count.

Everything Obama does is political - he does not care about all Americans

I need a new car. My car has 130,000 miles, is 8 years old,  it's Camry.  I am very interested in the Chevy Malibu.
But after this news, I will not be buying a Malibu.  I am mad as hell.

I do not think the auto workers need me to buy one of their cars. They are getting a break on heath care so they will have extra money.

Maybe I will not buy anything from a union shop.

Maybe  I should  ask Richard Trumka what I should do.  What car should I buy?  A Camry, a Honda, or a Malibu?

I use to like Baseball - now I hate it.

(FILE PHOTO) Mark McGwire Admits To Steroid Use
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 USA today has reported-
Mark McGwire finally admitted Monday what he couldn't tell a Congressional committee nearly five years ago: His home-run hitting exploits, including his stirring 1998 run to the single-season record, were fueled in part by steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Its not the game - its the games the players play.

So insure and perform- they cheat.  So afraid they will be replaced, they take drugs so they can perform and stay ahead of the curve. Terrified they will lose money, fans, and life style. They cheat.

We must have rules and laws.  If we don't then we have chaos. The sport becomes artificial, not real.

Here is the outrage.  Professional and some amateur athletes feel its ok to take performance-enhancing drugs. They feel everyone does it.  Why should I be different?  Even the fan say its ok.  Well its not ok.  No Way!

You are professional- you are a role model. If you have the guts to be one.  You were hired to do a job, but to do that job you have to cheat.

Professional athletes should be strong, unflappable, tough.  But many are not.  Just weak, privileged celebrities.

I use to like baseball - now I hate it.

Harry Reid: How many times can you be sorry?

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) speaks on health care in Washington

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says his description of Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential bid as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect" was "a poor choice of words."

A new book about the campaign, "Game Change," by Time magazine reporter Mark Halperin and New York magazine writer John Heileman, said Reid, in private conservations, described Obama as "light-skinned" and with "no Negro dialect."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid apologized to President Barack Obama on Saturday for comments he made during the 2008 presidential campaign that critics find racially offensive.
 _________________________________________________________________________________

Harry Reid is stupid. And he should apologize to the American people for being so stupid.  Harry YOU ARE PATHETIC.  You are not worthy to be  the Senate Majority Leader.

You apologized , now do the right thing and leave.

Please. Go back to Nevada  ASAP.

Mayo Clinic in Arizona refuses to accept certain Medicare patients

From Bloomberg.com.

The Mayo Clinic, praised by President Barack Obama as a national model for efficient health care, will stop accepting Medicare patients as of tomorrow at one of its primary-care clinics in Arizona, saying the U.S. government pays too little.

The Mayo organization had 3,700 staff physicians and scientists and treated 526,000 patients in 2008. It lost $840 million last year on Medicare, the government’s health program for the disabled and those 65 and older, Mayo spokeswoman Lynn Closway said. Mayo’s hospital and four clinics in Arizona, including the Glendale facility, lost $120 million on Medicare patients last year, Yardley said. The program’s payments cover about 50 percent of the cost of treating elderly primary-care patients at the Glendale clinic, he said.
“We firmly believe that Medicare needs to be reformed,” Yardley said in a Dec. 23 e-mail. “It has been true for many years that Medicare payments no longer reflect the increasing cost of providing services for patients.”
Mayo will assess the financial effect of the decision in Glendale to drop Medicare patients “to see if it could have implications beyond Arizona,” he said.

Nationwide, doctors made about 20 percent less for treating Medicare patients than they did caring for privately insured patients in 2007, a payment gap that has remained stable during the last decade, according to a March report by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, a panel that advises Congress on Medicare issues. Congress last week postponed for two months a 21.5 percent cut in Medicare reimbursements for doctors.
Read the whole article here. The policy change only affects the Mayo clinic in Arizona, for now. Keep in mind, the decision to deny new Medicare patients comes before passage of Democrat plans to cut around $500 billion from Medicare.

 ________________________________________________________________________________

I have warned, with the new health care reform bill we will pay more and get less. This is a outrage.

The health care bill will not help all seniors.

But if you live in the states that got bribed by Harry Reid, such as Louisiana, Florida,Connecticut, Nebraska and a few others, then you might be ok.

The health care reform bill has passed the Senate, but not the House yet.  And there are problems already.

More doctors and hospitals will probably refuse to accept and see  Medicare patients, because they feel Medicare does not pay them enough.

Just like medical pre-conditions were treated in the bill, the bill should have demanded, that people on Medicare cannot be refused. care and treatment.

This bill will allow the treatment for illegal immigrants, but it won't help its own senior citizens, or help you fully, if you are on Medicare.

Shame on the Senate. You get to keep your Cadillac insurance policy from the government group plan.  We have to settle for what is left. We always get the leftover.  Just like surfs.

What an outrage, what hypocrisy.  Many of these Senators do not care about the people who got them elected.  So now  many of the people who voted for these Senators,  will not care about them.
